Hello Family & Friends,
I simply cannot believe that August is over (my last post was 8/20) and September has arrived. We have a Fall snap to the air but it is suppose to get back to the mid 70's by later in the week. The smokey air has cleared with a couple of rain events -- now I just need to see the Aspens turn color, and I will remember that September has arrived.
We have been busy with odds and ends! We found Darrel's last Aspen stick and I found some neat Aspens that had bendy limbs -- pretty cool and big.
I couldn't decide which pictures were the best so you get all of them that I took -- this one was really tall and the limbs reminded me of the crested Saguaro cactus pictures that I have taken in Arizona.
The tree right next to it had one limb that just turned down. I don't know if they were too close??? Aspens seem to grow really close to one another.
Better shot of the twisty stuff
And I just liked tis one of all the really tall Aspens in the forest area we were hiking.
As week hiked the trail I found the perfect Christmas calling out to me, just not sure how to get it to AZ and better yet, how to get it into my RV???
A few weeks ago, Darrel and I rummaged around a tin can dump. He found this old copper bucket and decided it was worth trying to straighten it out and put in our "old timey stuff" in Arizona -- he didn't want to beat on it in the RV park due to noise so we made some noise in the forest -- where nobody, BUT me, could hear. --- also, looks dangerous so I stood a ways back.
He didn't hit a finger and nobody got hurt (this time around : )
So besides the normal day stuff, we had a bear in the RV park -- we were doing laundry and kept watching people go around the owner's cabin to look at something in the tree. The manager saw me and said come see a bear and I'm thinking what????
One of the ladies in the park had this pic of the bear climbing up the tree -- just a ways from the laundry/shower house --- the owner said it was about 300-350lbs. Too big for me to get any closer.
He/She just layed in the crouch of the tree -- you can see the head to the right of the tree trunk. You could tell it knew it had an audience so after a few minutes we all left it to nap -- I haven't seen it again.
We haven't seen much wildlife in the wild but we've seen a deer, bear and something I couldn't identify -- it was black and reminded me of a ferret or a mink?? all in the RV park. I guess I should mention that we've seen a couple of coyotes running the roads but nothing else. Maybe now that Fall is coming they will be out and about.
Last but not least, Darrel and I got our flu shots. It was a spur of the moment things when we were in Pagosa Springs. I try hard not to look at the nurse, shot or the bandaid they apply after it is all over. Makes me behave much better in public since I am not really a shot person at heart.
When we got ready for bed I asked Darrel if he was going to take off his bandaid and when I looked at it it was a Tweety Bird bandaid -- I had to take a picture for my youngest sister that looked like Tweety Bird when she was about 6 months old. --- Seriously, she did!! So enjoy my bandage pic!
She may get a box of these for her birthday, (right sis?) --- if I can find them.
Better run, out of news (at least you might call it some type of news) -- Will try to squeeze in a couple more posts before we head back to Arizona -- it will be get busy ready to pack up and travel.
Sending blessings from the road -- stay safe and healthy,
Love,
Susan & Darrel
